Peter Scanlan, Guide To Discovering One's Authentic and Unique Purpose In The World
In these times of rapid change, crises, challenges, and opportunities, do you find yourself asking questions about your life that are beyond the reach of your ability to figure things out? Do you wonder what part you are called to play in this critical time of cultural evolution?
In the programs that I guide and in my one on one mentoring, I offer a set of modern-day nature-based practices for exploring these questions and the longing from which they arise. The enactment of these practices, either individually or in a group setting, can facilitate an exploration of those longings and the questions they raise. Immersions into the realms of the senses, the emotions, and the deep imagination, can facilitate a relationship with the core and unique reason that each of us is here on the planet. In nature-based settings we can open ourselves to the realm of Mystery from which we emerged and to gather the threads of our larger mythopoetic story, or soul story, the one we carry as a gift for our people. Conscious awareness of these threads facilitates the weaving of a pattern that becomes a guide to our way of being in the world.
In 2015 I left the Animas Valley Institute with so much gratitude for having had the opportunity to be an Animas lead guide over the past 15 years. Thank you, Bill Plotkin, for seeing me and giving me this opportunity. Thank you to all my co-guides over the years: Annie Bloom, Jade Sherer, Mary Marsden, Rebecca Wildbear, Sabina Wyss, Geneen Haugen, Lauren Chambliss, Rachel Posner, Doug Van Houten, Bill Plotkin, and Sage Magdalene.
In 2015 my friend and co-guide, Annie Bloom, and I developed and offered a nature-based Ancestral program. I have guided the program here in the US and in Ireland with Annie and with other guides. The program incorporates wanders on the land and consciousness shifting practices to access ancestral energies for resolving ancestral wounding and connecting with ancestral gifts and resources. .
The COVID virus crisis led to the cancellation of my programs in 2020 and 2021. It continues to be unclear as to what programs I might be guiding in 2022.
I am continuing to do individual mentoring online by Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, or phone. If you are interested in mentoring, you can reach me at peterscanlan@comcast.net.
I will not die an unlived life.
I will not live in fear
of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid,
more accessible;
to loosen my heart
until it becomes a wing
a torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance,
to live so that which came to me as seed
goes to the next as blossom,
and that which came to me as blossom,
goes on as fruit.
